Fret Buster #107
Lean Hard
Child of my love, lean hard,
And let Me feel the pressure of thy care.
I know thy burden, for I fashioned it—
Poised it in My own hand, and made its weight
Precisely that which I saw best for thee.
And when I placed it on thy shrinking form,
I said, “I shall be near, and while thou leanest
On Me, this burden shall be Mine, not thine.”
So shall I keep within My circling arms
The child of my own love; here lay it down,
Nor fear to worry Him who made, upholds,
And guides the universe. Yet closer come;
Thou art not near enough. Thy care, thyself,
Lay both on Me, that I may feel My child
Reposing on My heart. Thou lovest Me?
I doubt it not: then, loving Me, LEAN HARD.”
-The Christian
Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. Psalm 55:22 NLT

I first received this encouraging message from a friend in 1975 when my mom had her first bout with breast cancer. I’ve never seen it anywhere else, and I was surprised to see it as a “Fret Buster” today!
Sooo needed to hear this tonight, with all that’s going on right now.
I first read this very meaningful and comforting poem as a young widow in the September 12 writing in “Streams in the Desert” by Mrs. Charles Cowan, along with the scripture, “Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness leaning on her beloved?” S. of Sol. 8:5. There was no author cited. I added to this writing Ps. 22:4 Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted (leaned on, relied on You, and were confident) and you delivered them. v.5 They cried to You and were delivered. They trusted in, leaned on and confidentially relied on You and were not ashamed or confounded or disappointed.” Amp. Bible He knows, He cares, He is with us in it all calling us to a closer walk. What a welcoming call to “Lean hard” and find a safe haven in the midst of the hurricanes of life. This devotional has blessed me for 46 years.
This is simply beautiful and encouraging in these days and times. God sustains us…what an awesome god we serve..
