One Way

When DaySpring Cards began its ministry in 1971, it was during the time of the Jesus People revival in Southern California. Thousands of young people were coming to Christ, and with great zeal and boldness they were making Him known to their generation.

One of the popular messages at this time was expressed with two simple words, “One Way!” The words were usually accompanied by an illustrated hand with the index finger pointing toward heaven. This was not just a catchy phrase or a clever design, but a proclamation of a powerful truth spoken by Jesus in John 14:6 and repeated by Peter in Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

We find the “one-way-ness” of God’s will and way throughout the Scriptures:

One God: 1 Corinthians 8:4
One Jesus Christ: 1 Corinthians 8:6
One Holy Spirit: Ephesians 4:4
One Gospel: Galatians 1:6-8
One Truth: John 14:6
One Door: John 10:9
One Faith: Galatians 4:5
One Hope: Ephesians 4:4
One Mediator: 1Timothy 2:5
One Body: Romans 12:5
One (who is) Worthy: Revelation 5:4-5
One (who is) Almighty: Revelation 11:17
One (who is) Eternal: Revelation 16:5

God is the one way to all goodness, holiness, love, and everlasting joy.

God is the chief good—He is in Himself most happy; yes, all good and all true happiness are only to be found in God, as that which is essential to His nature; nor is there any good or any happiness in or with any creature or thing but what is communicated to it by God. God is the only desirable good; nothing without Him is worthy of our hearts. –John Bunyan

Hello to everyone meeting in the meadow….I seldom leave a reply although I read almost every devotional word for word. However, today is especially meaningful to me. Each devotion speaking faith, hope, & love….strength, courage, & endurance into my spirit. Lots of overwhelming challenges in my life right now…but…I like to turn it around & think “no…. lots of overwhelming challenges that I am given the opportunity to witness & experience my Father’s love & care in the midst of it”. I will get to see Him in a new a different way meet all my needs through Christ Jesus. That sounds exciting to me. My Bible study group on Wed AM is studying the different religions of the world. VERY INTERESTING…something I have never given much thought to…mainly because of my life as mom of 5 children ..one w/ disablities…quite challenging for YEARS. Any way…. the ONE WAY devotional made my heart leap for joy…not that I have any doubts about my faith, but…as we discuss the other religions of the world, it just makes our precious Jesus even more beautiful & AWESOME. Thank you Roy & all the others that encourage so many of us through meeting in the meadow. You Are Loved, Jeanne

Yes Roy, the Holy Spirit truly inspires you with these beautiful messages which helps build up our faith. I re-affirm your teaching that Jesus is the only way for He very clearly says In Jon’s Gospel : I am the Way, the Truth and Life. Amen. With Him we can do all things without Him our lives are empty. Amen
