Perseverance: Romans 5:3

Knowing that tribulation produces perseverance. Romans 5:3

Tribulation can bring good to our lives in many ways. The winds of tribulation can remind us to trim our sails; the weight of tribulation can remind us to lighten our load; the opposing currents of tribulation can remind us to stay fixed upon our course.

Tribulation can also be likened to an exercise machine that is used to develop muscle tone and endurance. Perseverance is the inner endurance we need to patiently wait upon the Lord for Him to work, and for the timing of His will to be done according to His promises.

Here is a clear reminder from the book of Hebrews about the importance of patiently enduring temporary tribulations as you wait for the things that will last forever:

You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever. So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised. “For in just a little while, the Coming One will come and not delay. Hebrews 10:34-37 NLT

As believers in this world not everything happens when we want it to happen, or the way we want it to happen. Because we have put our trust in God’s timetable we can wait things out, and because we hold His promises to be true, we can stick it out.

Today you can be confident that it will be worth the wait! Nothing and no one can hinder the glorious outcome that awaits you as God’s child, and nothing and no one can keep you from inheriting the things that God has prepared for you as a part of His royal family.

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:1-5 NKJV

Once again, I am amazed at what I heard from my Shepherd in the meadow this morning! But then, He knew what I needed to bring stamina and peace to me right here and now. Reminds me of my favorite poem….In His Time, by Roy Lessin! I recommend every one google it if they don’t know it by heart already!

Thank you so much for all you share. The Lord has used “Meet me in the meadow” many, many times to encourage my heart.
