Jesus, the Only One

Jesus is the only Way to God (John 14:6).

The only Door to enter (John 10:7-9).

The only Salvation to receive (Acts 4:12).

The only Living Bread to feast upon (John 6:35).

The only Truth to know (John 14:6).

The only Light to walk in (John 8:12).

The only Vine to abide in (John 15:1).

The only Life to live (John 14:6).

The only Good Shepherd to follow (John 10:14).

The only Sure Foundation to build upon (1 Corinthians 3:11).

The only Mediator to call upon (1 Timothy 2:5).

The only Lord to serve (1 Corinthians 8:6).

“Look to Jesus for everything…God has simplified our life of faith in His dear Son. Severing us from all other sources, alluring us away from all other dependencies, and weaning us from all self-confidence, He shuts us up to Christ above, that Christ might be all and in all.”

Live in Him– As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him. Colossians 2:6 NKJV

Live through Him– Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37 NKJV

Live from Him– For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. Romans 11:36 NASB

Live with Him– Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him. Romans 6:8 NKJV

Live as Him– He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. 1 John 2:6 NKJV

Live by Him– ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6 NKJV

Live for Him– yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. 1 Corinthians 8:6 NKJV

He Holds You

Today’s posting is in response to the following request which came to Meet Me in the Meadow from one of our readers.

Today, I went back and read one of your previous devotions “He Holds You.” I cannot read this enough sometimes and perhaps someone else needs to hear these same words you previously shared again. We all face difficulties and storms in life, but to know we have a Savior who loves us and cares, is enough to know that we can face our tomorrow. God Bless you! -Donita L.

He Holds You

God never leaves you alone…

He never forgets about you…

He looks out for you and takes care of you.

You are more important than the birds

He feeds and provides for.

Trusting Him means to rest in Him

as your shield, your covering, your provider,

your defender and your friend.

It means freedom from worry, anxiety and fear.

It means peace to your mind and joy to your soul.

Come to Him; He is waiting…

Lean on Him; He is strong…

Talk to Him; He is listening…

Depend on Him; He will never let you down.

He holds you within the hollow of His hands

to keep you close…to keep you safe…

to deliver you from all your fears.

The Precious Blood of Christ

You were not redeemed with the corruptible things, like silver or gold…but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19 NKJV

How greatly blessed and favored you are today because of the blood of Jesus Christ. Without His precious blood your life would be covered in darkness, hopelessness, and despair; instead, your life is flooded with light, filled with hope, and enriched with spiritual blessings.

The blood of Jesus has taken you from the dungeons of slavery, to the highway of holiness; from the cruelty of a harsh taskmaster, to the tender care of your loving Father; from a descending stairway of bondage, to the ascending pathway of spiritual freedom.

The blood of Jesus cleanses you from the stain of sin, releases you from the chains of sin, frees you from the power of sin, saves you from the judgment of sin, and heals you from the pain of sin. The blood of Jesus restores and reconciles you to God. The blood of Jesus has not lost its power (and it will never lose its power) to make it possible for you to begin each day forgiven, washed clean, and clothed in the garments of His righteousness.

A Time of Need

Recently, someone reminded of an encouragement card I had written many years ago for DaySpring. The message on the card is for someone who is going through a difficult time or facing a situation with few answers. Today’s posting features that message with the hope that it might help encourage someone today.

What do we do when we face challenges that make us wonder what’s ahead? The answers are not always easy, and the direction is not always clear. In these circumstances, our hope is in God alone. Our lives and our times are in His hands, and He assures us that He is the rock we can stand upon through the storm.

Today, may you continue to believe in the wisdom of His ways, in the goodness of His love, and in the assurance of His presence as He keeps you every step of the way.

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2 KJV

Jesus in the Center

For me to live is Christ [His life in me] Philippians 1:21 AMP

Jesus is the way. He is not only the Way to God, but He is the Way into all that God has for us. He is the Way into our devotions, to our Bible reading, to our prayer life, to our ministry, and to all that we do for Him. In reality, we do not do our work for Him, but He does His work through us. With Jesus in the center of our being, we are no longer victims of our expectations, circumstances, and the things we can’t control. We discover that it’s okay if people don’t meet our expectations, because Jesus is our expectation. Schedules may be good, but they don’t produce life within us because Jesus is our life.

Answered Prayer

Each of us should carry a thankful heart for every “yes” we receive from God as an answer to prayer. We can also be thankful He doesn’t say “yes” to prayers that are not in agreement with His will–prayers that are based on our wisdom and not on His; that would bring leanness to our souls; that would put us in the wrong place; that would make us ineffective; that would bring us into wrong relationships; that would cause our hearts to cool; that would keep us from His highest and rob us of His best.

I know not by what methods rare,

But this I know, God answers prayer.

I know He gives His pledged word

Which tells me prayer is always heard,

And will be answered soon or late,

Though often it is hard to wait.

I know not if the blessing sought

Will come in just the way I thought;

I leave my prayer with Him alone,

Whose will is wiser than my own,

Assured that He will grant my quest,

Or send an answer far more blest.

-Eliza M. Hickok

And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. 1 John 5:14 AMP

Those Days (without the Lord); This Day (in the Lord); That Day (with the Lord), Part 2

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Psalm 96:2

In those days we didn’t know His voice; in this day we hear His voice; in that day we will hear Him say, “Well done.”

In those days we didn’t know His presence; in this day we know Him in our hearts; in that day we shall Him see face to face.

In those days we were paupers; in this day we are royal ambassadors; in that day we will reign with the King.

In those days we were lost; in this day we are found; in that day we will be welcomed home.

In those days we were strangers; in this day we are pilgrims; in that day we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Prayers

The great and mighty things that God wants to show you are often the answers to prayers that you have prayed. Keep on asking, keep on seeking, keep on knocking–answers will come, doors will be opened, promises will be fulfilled.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3 KJV
